SEMAX
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide peptide (sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) derived from a fragment of the adrenocorticotropic hormone ACTH(4–7) combined with Pro-Gly-Pro, originally developed in Russia for nootropic and neuroprotective purposes.

| Research class | What it is and how it works • Mechanism of action: Acts as a neuromodulator without the classic hormonal functions of ACTH. • Neurotrophic Factors: Significantly increases the expression of BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) and NGF (Nerve Growth Factor), stimulating neuroplasticity. |

• Neurotransmitters: Modulates dopamine, serotonin, GABA and acetylcholine pathways, which arouses interest for focus, attention and mental clarity. • Neuroprotection: It is studied in models of cerebral ischemia, stroke and hypoxia for assisting in mitochondrial preservation and neuronal survival.
